National Council of Churches in Australia passes resolutions on the Holy Land
At a national meeting last week, the National Council of Churches in Australia passed a series of resolutions on the situation in the Holy Land. It is the first time the Council has taken such a stand. It follows a visit to the region last year by a delegation of Church leaders, as well as international ecumenical developments, such as the new Palestine-Israel Ecumenical Forum. By passing these resolutions the Council wants to take a Christian perspective on a land and its peoples who have endured longstanding and intense suffering – on both sides. The Order of St. Luke the Physician Triennial Conference – September 2008
The Order of St. Luke the Physician in Australia is holding their Triennial Conference at the Redemptorist Monastery, North Perth, between the 15th and 19th of September. The Conference opens with a service in the Monastery Church of Sts Peter and Paul at 7.30pm on the evening of Monday the 15th of September. Brother Ghislain
We had a fantastic weekend with Brother Ghislain from the Taizé community. There was a large turnout for the Taizé style service on the Friday night, and around 30 participants on the weekend. We look forward to hopefully seeing Ghislain back in Perth sometime soon.
Annual General Meeting
The Council of Churches of Western Australia will be holding their Annual General Meeting on the 29th of March at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Claremont.
A Dark Warm Winter

The weather here in Jerusalem and Gaza is overcast with many a dark cloud. It mirrors what is felt inside by so many Palestinians whose loved ones have been killed or injured by Israel’s army “Warm Winter” campaign against Gaza. The 110 Palestinians killed so far since Wednesday February 27th include at least ten children, the youngest a few months old, and an equal number of women. “Warm Winter” continues and it has put all of us Palestinians in a state of shock.
