Protest Welfare Quarantining – Monday, September 15th
15th September, 12pm Justice Now – Aboriginal Rights Coalition WA
Despite the evidence of the failures, malicious motivations and lies behind the Northern Territory Intervention, the governments of Australia are trying to spread it further. The implementation of “welfare quarantining”, which says that certain people do not have the right to spend their income on what they want due to their skin colour or where they live, is being implemented in the Kimberly region of Western Australia and in Cannington.
Help spread the word about what’s being done to the most vulnerable and voice your outrage outside Mirrabooka Centrelink.
When: Monday, 15th September.

26th September Australian compact: Creating a new partnership between the Commonwealth Government & the Not-for-Profit Sector
Creating a new partnership between the Commonwealth Government & the Not-for-Profit Sector
Tell us your views on an Australian compact.
The Not-for-Profit Sector is a vital part of Australia’s civil, social and economic life, providing a broad range of services and opportunities to Australians, including culture and recreation, essential community services, and representation and advocacy.
Through participation in not-for-profit organisations, many Australians also learn valuable lessons about how to contribute to our civil life, which makes our democracy stronger. The Not-for-Profit Sector needs to be supported to thrive and strong, positive relationships between the Sector and the Commonwealth Government are important to achieving this.
The Not-for-Profit Sector and the Commonwealth Government are exploring ways to develop a new and stronger relationship with each other, based on partnership and respect. One way to do this is through the development of a National compact.
The Sector and the Government want to know what you think about the proposal to develop a National compact. We want to know what you think the value of a compact is, what a compact should focus on, and what should be in one.
Come and tell us your views.
When: 9:00am to 1:00pm, Friday 26 September
Where: City West Lottery House, Conference Room, 2 Delhi Street, WEST PERTH
The Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, Senator the Hon. Ursula Stephens will be attending this forum.
