Refugee and Immigrant Women Conference March 2009

On the 6-7 March 2009 ECCWA will be hosting a national conference – Refugee and Immigrant Women – Setting the Socail Inclusion Agenda. Attended by people all over Australia the conference will feature a plethora of inspiring and interesting speakers from all walks of life covering a range of issues including Aboriginal reconciliation, childcare, regional and rural issues, seniors, housing, sport and recreation, family violence, mental health, and youth.FECCA and ECCWA are pleased to invite you to attend this important conference that addresses the maximizing of the potential of
refugee and immigrant women within the overarching policy of the Government’s Social Inclusion agenda.
There are a number of key themes that will be addressed through the various plenary sessions that have been organized. They include

  • Leadership and participation in decision making
  • Family Life (child care, housing, parenting, sports and recreation)
  • Employment and training

This conference is about “sharing the knowledge, skills and expertise of refugee and immigrant women, caring for those who face barriers in accessing services and fulfilling their
potential, and ensuring that action necessary to address this and make social inclusion meaningful are identified and implemented. It will also showcase the achievement of refugee
and immigrant women.
According to Prime Minister Rudd, every Australian should have an opportunity to be a full participant in the social, economic and civic
life of the nation.
This conference is the start of the process. We invite you to participate in setting the Social Inclusion Agenda from the perspective of refugee and immigrant women.
