The area of biggest growth in the work of the Council of Churches of WA is through chaplaincy. How long have you been a Chaplaincy Trainee?
Just over four years.
Where have you been involved in ministry so far?
Acacia Prison, External Prison support, Riverview Church, Joondalup Hospital
How did you first hear about Traineeships and what prompted you to explore it?
I first heard about it while already serving at Acacia Prison.
What have you found most challenging in Chaplaincy?
To listen more and to say less.
What aspect of Chaplaincy has brought you greatest joy?
A heart changed by God.
What is the most important lesson you have learnt from the Chaplains?
To learn from their experience and wise council.
What have you learnt from the people you serve?
That I am one of them!
What would you say to someone considering ministry as a chaplain?
(Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust in God with all your heart all your mind, walk behind Him and not before Him. Know that you are a vessel and that God does the work. Be excited that you can watch what He does on a daily basis.
